Hello all

Someone somehow as obtained both my ebay and paypal passwords. (both different may i add) and purchased a £915 laptop through ebay, paid through my paypal and money from my bank account.

The delivery address is in Chatham, Kent.

Is anyone local to pop round the street, see what type of residence it is and who lives there(observation - family home with swings in garden etc, or 1 bed flat), regs of cars on drive or outside house etc? To aid in police investigation.

Got paypal trying to get my money back, upto 10 working days. And police coming around later.

What a joke, right before christmas. Dont know how they got 2 different passwords, but ive had to login from work to change them and my online banking etc just incase my home laptop/computers are bugged.

Virus scans show nothing and ive checked all services and start up items etc. But virus scan history did detect a trojan horse last week, but it was swiftly removed.

Arrrrrgh life!

I wish I could help as my home is only about an hour away from Chatham. Unfortunately Im at Uni at the moment and dont finish until the 18th. If its not too late I could swing past on my way home.

Not the first eBay scam I've heard of recently. Luckily I can't log into eBay at the moment. Apparently "this page is unavailable".

The police have been and took the details and hope to pass it onto the kent force.

Paypal have limited by account access while they investigate.

Spoke to bank and no money or pending money is in process with paypal, so it doesnt look like they have got the money even though paypal transaction is showing as complete.

I have checked all the computers and my laptop is showing a trojan horse found afew days ago and removed instantly, but how long as it been there?

I have changed online banking passwords, ebay, forums, paypal etc. I think for them to have two different passwords spot on, they must have had a key logger or something on my computer. T**ts

I'd be linclined to stop it all together really. Just link the card up every time you need to pay for somthing. Thats what my brother does now, as he went away on holiday for 2 weeks and had the exact same thing happen to him. He was saving up to pay for His insurance (next years insure, last year, so this years) and Some ..... Spent 2 grand of his money.

Luckily after a huge dispute with paypal they agreed to pay it back in installments, But luckily he got an extra £113 and they didnt realised. They still havnt and 14 months has passed by.

Keep your chin up mate, Karma will pay you back somehow.
