I sent an email yesterday to Mark but with it being the weekend Im sure he wont reply till Monday. And Im wanted to start my essay right away.

Email is as follows..

Hey Mark.

Im doing an Essay at the moment for my Graphic Design course at Lincoln University about Magazines, I chose to do mine about Mini Magazine.

I wanted to know a few basic bits of background information, when did MM start? who started it? why? things like that. Just a few lines will do.

Thanks Mark, Luke.

But if anyone else can answer, then brilliant :)

Hello

I dont have all the answers to hand, but what I do know I can tell you.

It started in 1996 sometime by A&S Publishing which was based in central Gloucester. In 2005 Future Publishing bought the titles (or the company) and incorporated them into its Automotive dept (fast car, redline, classic ford, classics monthly, fast ford, total vauxhall, trucking)

Why was it started? Well, the Mini was still in production and, I'm guessing here, there seemed to be room in the magazine market for another magazine.

I can find out whose idea it was and a list of previous staff once back in the office.

If you drop me an email of what you want I'll dig out a load of info for you on Monday, and check with the boss to make sure I can send it - [email protected]

Thanks, that's it really to be honest.

The essay is about target audiences, characteristics, features.. etc.. so I just needed a backbone of its history for some background information, thanks :D

I was the chairman of the old and now very defunct Gwent Mini Club and back in early to mid 1996 I received a letter and a first issue copy of Mini Magazine to show to everyone at that Mini Club.

It certainly was a contrast to Mini World, because Mini Magazine was published using better quality paper and images/graphics etc.

The first MiniWorld magazines were only published every quarter to begin with as they didn't know what the demand would be like, they did so well that they started publishing every month (I think from number 5 onwards or something like that). There was also another more technical magazine that ran alongside MiniWorld but i can't remember what that was called now.

First issue was June 1996 - i have a pilot copy in front of me from earlier that year. The launch editor was Martin Vincent, with Gerard Hughes a deputy. Both still contribute to the magazine now.

Martin or Gerard can be contacted and may be able to help. Drop me a line at [email protected] if you need anything! Or e-mail Craig...

Quick common question.

Roughly, how many Classic Minis are left? I've found that over 5,000,000 were made.

Could some people quickly write a sentence about why you read Mini Magazine and why it attracts you, and your age.

Thanks >_<

This isn't last minute at all >_<
