This is for my friend - not me, just to put the record straight lol. Atm she has a 03plate convertable street ka which she paid £6k for over a yr n a half ago.
Anyways she really wants a new beetle and we went to see one today. Its Y reg so older than her car and was in good condition, yet the garage were only willing to offer her £3k for her car in part exchange which seems daft to be given money and a newer car in exchange for an older car.

Has anyone had any experience with the new beetles, what they like? Anything in particular to look out for??

Arent they a VW Golf with a different body?

A good place to look is 'Used Car Expert' Clicky..

Gives loads of info on different cars, but you have to sign up and wait until they validate your account. It tells you the different areas to look out for, I found it really useful when looking for a Lupo :)

It's a Golf.

...In a nasty retro body.

Buy a mk4 Golf and a classic Beetle instead.

To be fair mate, that can happen with any car. Iv'e owned a rover 200 and a zr and done over 120K miles in both combined and never had a problem, yet people will tell you they are crap. The only reason the head gaskets go on them is people don't change the coolant regularly. You are always going to get good and bad with mass produced cars.
