Hi, my friend owns a '92 city SPI, he wants to know whether he can fit a 1275 minisport stage 1 SPI kit ot his car, unfortunately the only SPI kits they have are for a 1275 engine. I would of thought that the exhaust would be the same for both engines, however I am no expert so I may be wrong.
Thanks Guys,

No I think you'll encounter problems as the SPi engines had exhausts with catalytic converters fitted and your Mini City won't have a cat.

A 998cc engined Mini is better off with an RC40 and a Cooper freeflow manifold (if you are changing the manifold), but not an LCB.

Check out Maniflow exhausts, because their one of the best.

I've just re-read your message and the Mini City never came with an SPi engine. It should have a 998cc A+ engine fitted with a HS4 carburettor? Or at least it would have done when new.

Plus all the SPi engines (whether fitted to the Mini Cooper or post 1992 non-Mini Cooper) had a 1275cc engine.

So are you sure it's a City and not a Mini Sprite?

Thanks mate, I've just confirmed with my friend his is a city, and as a result a 998, so it must be a carb. So now he is going to get the carb stage 1 kit.
