Saw this on ebay to replace my tired 25D dizzy. It's a pattern part so what do the guru's (guri?) think?

Cheers

There is a series of "generic" 45D4 dizzys being marketed as universal replacements for almost all DM2, 25D, and 45D distributors. I have one on a non-Mini project. The quality is OK. They use "red" points and the generic cap, rotor, and condenser as used on late model Spitfires and MGBs. The thing that will be different is how the generic 45D connects to the coil. Normally on the 25D series you'll have a white/black wire that plugs onto the spade lug coming out of the dizzy. On these generic 45Ds, there will be a green wire from the condenser that exits a gromit on the side of the dizzy. The green wire ends in a male spade lug. You'll need to put an insulator around the white/black wire's female spade lug so when you connect the green wire to the white/black there is no chance of the connection touching earth.

The 45D will fit where your 25D dizzy is. Will it perform better? Maybe... maybe not. If you have a worn out 25D dizzy, a new, generic 45D will probably be generally better.
