Drive Shaft Diameter

Hi all, can anyone tell me if the drive shafts are all the same diameter as i will be doing a disc conversion and is it necessary to change the shafts as well as the cv joints or can i keep the original shafts, thanks.
It has inner pot joints and drum fronts at mo

Disc braked cars have thicker shafts but the splines are the same so they're interchangeable.

...just to add buy your CV Boots to match your driveshafts not the brakes.

I've used the thin shafts on tuned motors without any problems and for a road car I wouldn't worry if that's all you have.
As Ethel says, you can mix and match as they all fit.

I've had drum shafts in my disc braked, non-standard car for ten years now without issue.

Anyway: The weakest point of the shaft is the groove in the spline where the circlip sits in >_<

I have seen those thinner shafts wind up on a Rally car. In fact, I have seen the Jack Knight uprated drive shafts wind up for that matter >_<
