Where can you get new door and boot locks from and how much?

I was revealed the disturbing fact that other mini keys fit my door and boot locks! :nugget:

Have other people had this?

If I'm going to get better ICE in my car I want it to be secure, I don't want people being able to get into my mini.

On a side not, can you buy rover alarms still? and are they worth buying?

Rover alarms arent worth the plastic they are made from. I hated mine.
The FOB was Huge, and the alarm used to work on the horn (not a siren). So if anybody knows where a mini Horn is (*Cough behind the grille *Cough*.) Then its a case of cutting 2 wires, and you have a none working alarm! :cheese:

Locks. Well, Pretty much any mini door will open any other mini lock with a little bit of force. And if not, then It only takes 2 minutes to get into the boot of a mini anyway. They are not worth trying to beef up because either way, they are VERY easy to break into.

Your best bet is either to buy an alarm (Or a fake alarm flashing light for your dash).
And then Stealth all your ice. Dont put it on display basically.

Sub going in the boot?
Then Bolt it all in, So it cant be nicked.

Speakers on shelf?
Stealth it with car carpet.

Speakers under rear seats?
Out of sight down there.

Hope this helps.

Although they say 90% of thieves are local to you (ie, if you are robbed, then theres a 90% chance that person lives locally). So stealth it up if you want, but then if you have a big sound system your only going to advertise that fact to your whole town when you start playing some music!

well my plan was to have my ice hidden, the subamp in the boot the rear speakers removed, the front speakers in the doors and thats it.

how do you bolt the sub to the boot?

now im thinking of buying a new mini lock for the boot.

might consider the fake flash l.e.d. how much are reasonably priced alarms?

You can pick up a average shock sensor alarm for about £60.

They are dead easy to fit too, All you have to do is stick the live on the battery and the earth to the chassis. Then mount the siren somwhere solid.

Ive just made my own immobiliser (did it last night). And its probably the most secure immobiliser you can get!
flashing Dashboard LED is defonatly the way forward though!

Im actually quite lucky, Ive got 2 minis, And none of the keys open any of the other locks apart from their own.

My boot key kind of turns my door lock, but dosent actually unlock it. However, my motorbike key (Honda) Opens ANY mini door lock or boot lock!

It openes all 3 of my minis locks.

Anyway, Bolting the sub to the boot, Well its easy enough, If you take the sub out of the box, Put the box in the boot with the back of the box to the back of the rear seats, Then drill through a couple of holes through the box and seat. then slide a couple of bolts through and do them up. Silicone round them to seal them off, and then screw the sub back into the box.

OK, Ive looked into alarms and found a Micro Scan alarm for £70.

My install will be different as, adding everything up... well I cant afford it.
