Higher ratio diff

5 speed box

even bigger wheels can mean the revs will be lower at motorway speeds.

Minis do have quite a short gearing as the 4 speed box holds them back quite a bit. You could fit some more sound proofing so that the screaming engine isn't as annoying.

I've got used to my engine screaming now, sat on the motorway with it screaming at around 6.5k.

Urrrrr I was also on an airfield >_<

Just so I don't get a bolocking of the keyboard warriors.

it's funny because on the way home from picking my mini up when I first got it, I did 80 and we didn't want to go over 80 as it sounded loud.l might go back to that air field one day >_<

The wheels will not make a huge difference, but it's a start.

What diff is in it now?

Mine went off the speedo the other day >_<
Not on an air field
5500rpm
With a grand total of 5 weeks driving experiance, still on a provisional liecence.

Who's gunna argue?

As its been said, bigger wheels, different diff ratio, 5 speed box, will all raise the top speed.
But thats not what a mini is about, if it will do 70 comfortably, im happy. mini's are king of the B roads, and that's where they belong, or empty car parks, but thats another story.

Although you can have all the gears you like, but without the power too push the car through the air it's not going to matter.

Although your car should do more than 80.

I dont know why people are talking about cams, heads and rockers?

Power has nothing to do with top speed if the top revs and gear ratios remain the same, you'll just make the screaming worse!
You will get to the top speed quicker but that's not what he wants.

P.S please stop *melonsing* judging people and just answer their question. It's really irritating.

I disagree, without power your never going to be able to overcome the resistance of the air. My 998 car would run out of puff at around 85, but the engine could rev alot harder, but did not have the power to overcome the resistance.

More power would mean there was more power behind the car and beenable too push it to a higher top speed.

I've got a 1275 spi sprite, i've got 95 out of it! It wasn't screaming but.. I wouldn't want to push it any further!
I think that 80+ is pretty good. It's pretty much standard apart from the exhaust, it's got a straight through system with a DTM back box. >_<
When I got my Mini I could only get 70 mph out of it, but having drivin it around the country lanes pretty quick, it's blown all the cobwebs out of it!

95 is excellent for a standard engine! i've got 90 mph clocks so no idea what I've had out of mine haha, only been off the clock once never dared to drive above 80 mph really

to be honest mate, driving my mini when I first got it, it was a bit loud at 80. It's just getting used to it really, it probably isn't as bad as you think
