the ignition kit is just over a hundred quid from minisport and all you have to do is follow the instructions given and get it timed :)
just stick a de-humidifier into the car over night to dri it out :D

Have you a machine mart in the local area? They do special days where you can get discounts e.g. 10%/VAT Free days (not sure if its only because I'm trade) but they still have some good kit (Best get a catalogue and do some research)

In regards to the front end.. Is it going to be F/G (GRP) or actual metal panels?

Depends how you do it. For a plug and play around £300 mark, here everything is built and you just bolt it on and everything is included. It does make quite a bit of difference putting one on.

Electronic ignition depends how much you want to spend

You can get kits that replace the points using the standard dizzy housing for £20 upwards or you can go the whole hog and spend a few hundred on a megajolt which will give you pretty much limitless settings to play with.

That £450 doesn't sound bad to me for a front end including paint

Don't bother with leccy ignition - it's NOT necessary! Throw away wet soundproofing (and carpets) and get the car dry inside before fitting any back in. Check the rest of that shell very very carefully - before investing all that cash on a 'front end' - only to find the sills/boot floor rear subframe mounts are rusted away to nothing. Also check the panels behind the fresh-air vents - to see if they too have rusted out!

1. If you have the type of soundproofing that fits under carpets like a 2nd sort of carpet then i would just throw it out and get new - when i took mine out it was minging so rather than try and salvage it I bought new.

No its not a necessary but its one less thing to have to adjust and service, for the sake of £20 means no more messing with points and condensors.
I'm not saying they can't go wrong but from experience on 3 minis fitting with electronic ignition all have covered over 25,000 miles with them fitted and no adjustsments needed and all working no problems.

£20? Is that for the kit that eliminates the points?
