Hi

I am new to the mini forum and have a general question to which i would like peoples oppinion to. I have seen that P&L mini do a suspension cone replacement kit. They say that the coil springs they have developed will replace the ruber cones directly as i already have hi-lo's fitted. I was curious if any one has fitted these and if so were they easy to fit and are they any good?

If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Liam

Hi, I have got coil springs on mine. Got mine from mini spares though. I love them. Where abouts are you located. if your close to swindon your welcome to come round and look and i'll take you for a drive in it.

As for fitting, the hardest part I found was getting the old suspension out. As you already have hi-los then that should not be too much of a problem.

Have a look around though as there are a few places that do them.

Minispare & minitastic to name a couple

One thing I've noticed when using cone-replacement springs is that you will have more roll when cornering, but the suspension is much smoother than your rubber cone.

I found that the springs are too soft for my liking in the daily driver (used on a long highway roads) so revert back to rubber cones. But my other Mini still retain the springs because it's used mostly on urban streets - where the springs excels...

If budget allowed, why don't you try replacing your cones with the Moulton's Smooth-A-Ride kit and adjustable shocks... It could make a lot of difference over the standard item...

you can get different rates of springs.

Minitastic offer a town ride, fast road and race. Getting progressivle stiffer.

I have the minispares red springs and have noticed no difference in the amount of roll but it is smoother. Coupled with adjustable shocks its almost perfect now.

Are the minitastic town ride ones good as far as comfort is concerned? I live in Edinburgh and with a combination of cobbled streets and whacking great potholes, I'd quite like to keep wearing my spine on the inside if at all possible.

More to the point are they difficult to fit? Do you need the whole kit or just the springs? (my ignorance abounds, sorry for what are probably silly questions)

Thanks!

JK
