From what I remember, that was the original concept (or very much like it) for the MINI. As you can see it does look much more like a classic Mini which was the idea. Something went a bit wrong in the later designs!

I don't think its too bad. They have kept quite a few features from the classic mini, rather than just big round lights and a tiny grille, as bmw have done.
