This is coming on a real treat mate you should be really proud. A lot of work gone into this... sometimes projects dont seem to get many comments on here and others (like my metro) end up with 54 pages and very little work. Well done though, cant wait to see it finished :)

That heelboard end has come up a treat. I remember mine was looking a mess before I welded it all up, you'd never know what the fit was like now!

Keep it up,

Graham

Hey all,

Once again long overdue an update.

I have been busy with the latest edition to the mini fan scene, my beautiful baby boy. He was born 9th May and has already been introduced to the mini with the hope he follows in his dads footsteps of mini obsession.

Posted Image

I have only done a small amount since the last update, which includes finishing off the passenger side floor and prinering that side, flipping the shell over, and removing the drivers side sill. On to the pictures;

Hey all,

It's been over a year and I've barely done anything on the mini! So once again I thought I had best get going on it again.

So the other night i went out the garage an started repairing the drivers side inner sill, it took just three patches to get a solid sill. I've also started the prep for the subframe mount, closing panel, and a repair patch for the arch.

On to the photos;

I'm sure I've got another photo of the other two holes in the middle of the sill before welding commenced, but can't find it at the moment, I'll keep looking though.

Thanks for looking, Andy.

Hey all,

Little update; I've put the rear subframe onto the car so can align the subframe mount holes for the repair panel. I've self tapered the repair panel to the inner sill, nearly ready for welding the repair in.

Hey all,

I've done a little more, the subframe mount is now welded on. It seemed to take forever to get the prep just right before I could even touch the welder, but I suppose with most jobs, the work is in the prep!

Anyawy, photos;

I need to dress the welds just in case you were wondering.

I've also started to cut the wheel arch out, I had originally planned to just patch the arch, but thought it would give a better finish if the whole thing was replaced.

Thanks for looking, Andy.

Hey all,

Welds partly dressed, needed more weld but I ran out of wire. Off to Machine Mart tommorow then! Oh and I'd done a little more prep for the wheel arch.

Just the one photo;

Thanks for your interest, Andy.

Hey all,

I hope you're all doing well. I have managed to get back into the garage to get a little more done on Pearl.

I've been concentrating on getting the boot floor done, which has proven more work than I had anticipated.

The first task was to get the boot floor done, to do this, I welded in supports to hold the subframe reinforcement bracket in place to hold the subframe mounting holes in place;

This then allowed me to cut out the rust from the back of the boot floor. But before I could weld it in, a repair was required below the rear light.

I then welded the boot repair patch in, along with about four other patches along where the arch attaches to make the boot floor solid again.

This then allowed me to weld on the subframe mount panel and valance closing panel;

It needs finishing as its a bit distorted, but that'll come later. The next job is the rach and closing panel.

Andy.

So, on to the arch and closing panel. I chose to weld the closing panel in first to hold the 3/4 panel in place to help me weld the arch in.I then welded the arch in place, and dressed the welds followed by zinc primer.

I still need to weld the inner arch supports and to the 3/4 (which is being replaced) once the car is upright again.

I have also red oxide'd the valance closing panel and inner sill and along with seam sealer for the valance closing panel.

I have made up the OEM mounting brackets for inside the sill so they'll be welded in next followed by the sill, so hopefully the next update won't be as far away as these last two.

Thank you all for your interest, Andy.

Hey all,

Well...... I feel like a broken record with this project thread.... once again an overdue update! It seems I'm managing to do short bursts every six months, so heres the work I did about six months ago;

I have managed to install the rear valance, where i painted inside the closing panels with zinc primer, red oxide and underseal paint. I also gave inside the sill void the same treatment and welded in the OEM mounting point and welded the sill on exept where it meets the 3/4 panel; as this needs replacing.

I have started this six monthly short burst, and have so far put her up straight again, installed the door and pinned the A-panel on the drivers side.

Thanks for looking, Andy.
