just wondering when i broke mine down the other day how different the mpi setup is to the spi or a carb cooling wise (dont know much about mpi's)

is it easy as in buy the bits and theyll fit straight on or is it a faff around to convert it.

any info atall would be cool, maybe even piccys of an mpi bay?

Thanks :D

different subframe for a start ( but suppose it could be made to fit ), the alternator is raised in the Mpi to allow room for the rad, and the block is different with no Dizzy and the oil filter is moved up and onto the block..

However, many people have fitted front rads to std minis..

cinquecento radiators are quite compact and may fit nicely in a clubman front.

they're a similar size to that type of metro radiator but with both outlets at the same end.
there was another type of metro one though that wasn't quite as wide but had a thicker core and both outlets at the same end, they also fit pretty well.

Just use a decent supercool 2 or 3 core radiator... just not a 4 core! Otherwise by the time the air gets to the 4th core it's hot and doesn't cool anything :D

Hi,
My Clubman Estate has MPI running gear with front mounted rad on home made brackets. On a round nose you could use genuine MPI top brackets with a home made lower one. Alternator would still be a problem though. There are some pictures on my site of my installation if you need a shot of the bay.

I'm running a metro front rad in my clubby estate. I used everything from the metro - hoses, fan, expansion tank etc. It goes in really well, I just had to shorten the top hose a bit.

I'll get some pictures if its of any use to anyone?

Hi MiniJosh92,

Any chance you could get some pictures?

I bought my 1275gt like this,

the radiator leaks and the hoses are good for nothing so need replacing, (ongoing project). I'm not sure what the top hose is and the bottom hoses are a mess/bodge I'd like not to repeat. Are the bottom hoses you used an off the shelf part?

Thanks

Peter
