Hi,
Just wondering whats the best timing to set a standard 1275 engine code: 2A2BG03 with an elec dizzy with module.

My autodata cd says 0-1 at 1000rpm without vacuum. Is this correct? Also am I best running the car with or without the vacuum pipe attached?

When all running correctly at 4000rpm what should the timing on the strobe show? Just so I can check..

Thanks
Roland.

Don't know what the figure is, but all timing measurements should be made with the VAC disconnected from the dizzy ( would be an idea to plug the end as well as it stops air leaking into the manifold )

12A engines should be 5 + 1 BTDC at 1500 rpm I think. Time it with the vacuum disconnected, run it with the vaccum connected (why would it be on the car if you are better without it?). You can't time it at high speed, the timing will be advanced way off the scale for one thing.

You don't want to have manifold depression controlling the dizzy, you want throttle edge depression. There should be a connection on the carb itself just ahead of the throttle butterfly for the dizzy to use.

thanks for the info.. the takeoff from the carb doesnt seem to suck much. i have twin carbs and am using the takeoff from the left carb. is there a way to tell if the carb advance is enough? thanks.
