hello
Ive been looking around for steels ever since I bought my mini in october but I am finding it nearly impossible. I want them mainly for insurance purposes as im 17 and the premium is large enough as it is. Also because I cannot get a full steering lock on without hearing my 13x8 alloys scraping against the car, or thats what I am led to believe the noise is.

I have called my local specialist but they only have alloys.

any suggestions welcome
sam.

if you fit steels you will also need to change the arches, unless you want the wheels coverd?!

The last owner has modded the car to accept 13's so you need to reverse it to put 12' steels back on, nothing major though

You can also check the classifieds here and put up a wanted topic in there aswell, plenty of steels around

you could try finding some original rover alloys then you wont need to tell insurance as they are standard ones not aftermarket ones. correct me if im wrong.. >_<

Yea they do look a bit stupid. They were only left on as he didn't want to take them off as you would see the holes and he couldn't put alloys on due to insurance. The minis off the road now for a rebuild anyway.

even if you fit the steels, you will still need to tell the insurance company about the arches, as they are a modification too!, have you checked to see if they affect your premium, as they didn't affect mine because they cost less than £500!

I have a set of 12" steels and a set of 12" Rover Cooper Minilights, all with tyres if it helps you, I'm in Maidstone. As said though, those monster arches are always going to look silly with skinny (standard) wheels! I wonder what the paint is like under them!

Direct linedon't allow any modifications under the age of 25.

Also your wheels is sitting quite far forward in the arch. Are the tie bars straight, that could help the scrubbage issue.

And yeah, those arches are a bit big for steelies, will look funny:)
