I mean C'mon!

Not talking the safety side here as I only use genuine ones and would ONLY use them

But setting them up with the trial n error method!!!! Oooh thumb pressure too much Oooh no thumb pressure atall!! I almost fell asleep undoing the dome nut yet again to pick up yet again another different shim to try the umpteenth time...yet again!

Just really got to me today, was ok last year but was having a 'mare this time round so I've left them in the garage half done hoping someone will do them for me

Anything other tasks just as wrist slashing?

I think ill have to do this on mine, by the sounds of it i dont want to.

should just be able to move them with a 13mm. 12" ring spanner over the taper and use the leverage of the spanner to move them

if their to tight will wear to quickly

if to loose well can be as bad as being to tight

i got lucky doing mine, wasnt re-shimming, new 1's but managed to get it right 2nd or 3rd time!
most labourious job has to be cleaning and polishing the grill, have to get in behind the lights, it can take forever!

why cant some one make a ball joint that dosent need shimming for the mini like some of the modern ones.

Just had a bad one today Sean thats all, but I'm not looking forward to round two

I was that bored with them I went and checked the psi on my stacked up spare tyres.......OMG!

Ball joints , nice and easy job . Done so many over time its just a auto pilot task now i think .

For me the next worse job for me is grinding ( Strange as it is ) . Every welder will under stand one thing , grinding grit down you back . And not talking nip off a weld here and there say working from 6am to 7pm welding and grinding full time and that horrible feeling down you back right up until you catch a shower to wash the grit away . Doesn't happen often but if you get caught out its the worst thing to live with all day !!!!

Not always practical , and i dont trust wearing them all the time , esp when you have say a grinder going at over 10,000 rpm over you head and loose clothing etc . id rather take my chances of the grinder falling on my head or grit down my back then it snagging or as its happened before SET ALIGHT !!! Now theres more fun then a family meal at KFC's ....

Usual kit is normal work clothes with a set of fire resistant overals over the top , gauntlets , goggles / face mask , earplugs , welding apron . adding a hood to all that can make for walking around like a scarecrow and limited to things on 12" off the group - god help you if you drop your next flap disk on the deck lol

you can do this by fitting metro hubs.

why cant some one make a ball joint that dosent need shimming for the mini like some of the modern ones.

Just did my sons last weekend did 2 hubs 4 joints in1hr fully stripped down cleaned and greased...................
