Have you thought about running a cross pin diff? For the money it's really worth it compaired to just fitting the uprated pin.

Looks very sweet Ben! Funnily enough i'm building an almost identical engine for my 1970 Morris at the moment. Only main diffrence is mines running an Eaton M24 Supercharger
Aiming for a a low boost 100bhp.
Have you thought about running a cross pin diff? For the money it's really worth it compaired to just fitting the uprated pin.
Hey! Is this Matt?
hmm supercharged small bore.. sounds good! would like to see that.
Actually I have just ordered the minispares crosspin diff.. must update that. But yes I agree much better than just an uprated pin. I know its not going to be pushing the limits of A series but definately pushing the limits of small bore
How your website coming along?

Yeah it's Matt, well yeah i thought it would be a little different and with the small Eaton it should suit it well. I'm staying away from straight cuts though as it's a daily driver, i'll leave the noise for the GTM
Ah good choice with the diff! they also have a small effect on reducing torque steer which is nice! Your going to run tens arn't you?
We seem to have the slowest and most usless website designers in Devon! but yes should be done in the next week or so, thank good!

I was just checking the measurement between the top of the pistons and the deck of the block to let Swiftune know, so they can work out a CR, now... here comes the problem...
I had all the pistons decked by 18thou so they would be close to the top of the bore on TDC as the block had been skimmed by the previous owner.. now the pistons are in and on cylinders 1, 2, and 4 the the piston sits at an angle to the top of the block by 6 - 8thou either side.. so sitting 8thou down on the left side (flywheel) to 2thou down on the right side (rad)..
Now I know the pistons have all been decked flat, so do I have 3 BENT RODS?!!?!?!
Also, on those 3 cylinders the piston doesnt sit in directly in the center of the bore.. I cant get a 10thou gauge all the way around the piston but can on cylinder 3.
Help!

Could you see the bend in them once you'd took them out ben or was it too slight to make out?
Hey
they were all between 4 and 6thou out which is only a very slight amount and impossible to see by eye, but enough to ruin my engine!! glad I found it really

Really good that you spotted the problem now rather than later on

Because if the journal was 1thou out, by the time it got to the top of the piston it could be as much as 8thou wrong?
Very confused! Oh well.. going to reassemble it tomorrow and take another look.
