i reckon you should get a 1275 and make that get 90bhp probably cheaper.

Thanks for that.. I know that its cheaper and easier to make 90bhp from a 1275, done it more than once..

but I would like to do it with a small bore, as it interests me.

Ben

what a boring thing to say! lol

this all looks fantastic! small bore all the way! loving all the carbon and black! im very interested to see how this turns out!!

great work!

Engine looks wicked Ben, small bores are da bomb. :)

I'd be interested to find out what you think of the ECU once it's all up and running, it's something I keep thinking about doing on the estate.

Thanks very much Matt... tricky little build :(

Im interested too.. never had a mini with an ECU so should be good.

Iv done a couple more bits over the last few days, its now off the engine stand.

Iv fitted all the core plugs, started mocking up the alternator and made a few brackets to hold it nicely, and made my oil transfer pipe.

Il get some pictures later today :)

Here you go...

Alternator is mocked up.. just waiting for the long M10 bolt to arrive to bolt it together.

Why have you got the second mount on the block for a 2 mount alternator?
As good as the carbon fibre bits look, I cant help but think its going to have a crunch as it first pulls off, as the carbon fibre breaks
Only time will tell i suppose, good luck

I have the alternator mount on the block because I plan to run a M10 150mm bolt through the alternator and water pump and over to the block mount, Iv seen alot of these type of alternators only mounted in 2 places snap off the end of the water pump.

What do you mean about the carbon breaking? Which bits? Each piece has been made to exceed the strength of the original metal part.

Hey ben how is your oil filler cap attached to your rocker cover? I'd really want a carbon rocker cover myself but the filler cap would have to come out the side or it will come into contact with my bonnet as i've got a minus and it takes 3" out of the engine bay! Regards Blue

Beautiful!

Though... that alternator looks so plain there... remaking that tin end cover in carbon would help it fit in

I have used one of these...

With the thread part bonded in and re-anodised black. You dont really need to have the filler cap in the rocker cover. you could make one that came out of the dizzy hole ( if its not being used ) or the breather hole in the transfer case?

Lol indeed... have looked at doing that.. would look nice, but the tin one is so light theres not much point

Some beatiful carbon work there, i must say, and a quality display of engine building.

However, the carbon, when bolted to such a damn heavy cast iron block, does look a bit comically out of place when you think about it.

Any reason you've blanked off the water outlet?? I would have thought you'd want to encourage water flow through the head on a performance engine like this, to prevent #1 cylinder overheating.

Looking forward to more updates, Paul.

I didn't say it would break just cant help thinking it would/will.
Are you having a nut to the back of the water pump to pull it tight and then carry on to the second mount to steady it?
