Some beatiful carbon work there, i must say, and a quality display of engine building.

However, the carbon, when bolted to such a damn heavy cast iron block, does look a bit comically out of place when you think about it.

Any reason you've blanked off the water outlet?? I would have thought you'd want to encourage water flow through the head on a performance engine like this, to prevent #1 cylinder overheating.

Looking forward to more updates, Paul. :gimme:

Isnt that the point? The engine is heavy, so why add more heavy items to it? when you can make it out of carbon and save afew kilo's on a heavy part of the car. Its this sort of weight saving that adds up to a large saving on the car as a whole, and helps the weight distribution. :) Every little helps.

The heater blank will be tapped and a hose routed to the bottom rad hose eventually. Will also have temperature strips at either end to keep a check on temperature across the cylinders.

You could save even more weight by losing the dizzy blank clamp and tapping an M3 thread in the block for a machine screw :gimme:

Thanks very much, Im hoping for it to rev to around 7/7.5k its built to take it, so we'll see ;) might not need to rev that high though.

Thank you  its not easy.. hundreds of hours work on the carbon bits!

The mini currently is a bare shell, and one of these days it might make it down to Mintec for them to work their magic on it.. Iv been planning to take it down there for around 2 years now. Iv got a room full of finished carbon bits to go on it though. Its going to be Audi Abis White with a carbon bonnet, boot and roof and white miglia arches, Iv got a set of 7x10 Spectrums to go on it that will have bronze centres... and a whole lot more. But it will take me years lol

Just an update to say.. still working on it!

Iv been collecting bits for the gearbox, and stripping it down. Iv been cleaning up all the casings so that I can have them powdercoated or sprayed silver and then build them up :P

Also made an small carbon plate to mount the fuel pump and filter to in the boot.

I picked up another set of Spectrums last week, so now I have a 10x7 set and a 10x6 set... Im currently liking the idea of using the 6's with some W+P arches in white.

updates soon..

Ben
