well just thought i ask before spending yet again more money!
i had this problem a while ago and its was basicaly you push the cluch in and it dosent engage properly (i thinks thats right!) i get a bit of a grind when changeing gear also and the 'biting point' is on the floor!

i solved this before by bleeding the cluch..i dont have any fluid comeing down the cluch pedal so its not the master cylinder? so could it be the slave cylinder? or is it worth just replacing both? also how hard are they to do?

thanks for any help! :)

could be the slave cylinder, or the clutch hose, is the clutch hose twisted or kinked? is it the original clutch hose? as over time they can perish and block up, so a replacement might be on the cards if its the original

You've not said whether you've tried bleeding it again?

If you bleed it again and it solves the problem, then check the flexi hose for any signs of cracking or whether its perished.
Its more than likely going to be the slave cylinder however, you can replace the whold unit or just order the seal its your call.

If you bleed it and it still grinds out, it'll be either a worn clutch plate or worn clutch arm either in the slave or into the end casing.

And bmcecosse, take a random guess?!?

i had a look at the slave cylinder and the hose today and the hose looks fine but there is fluid around the seal where the arm is. i guess this is the problem? how hard is it to change it?

i dnt know what the engine is (A/A plus or clutch verto/preverto) the cylinder has a bleed nipple on if that helps!

thanks

i would say check your slave cylinder the seal hasnt gon or check the hoses over, and the clutch bite being on the floor, maybe having a look at the clutch adjustment.

I had this same problem, all i did was throw a whole lot of grease on the pivot joint thingy that goes from the arm into the clutch housing, and then it worked fine, hope this helps.

If there is oil around the slave - it needs a new seal. Very easy to do.
