Hi again everyone! I was cleaning out my boot yesterday giving it all a wipe down with a cloth. When I put my cloth down the side of the arch (inside) my cloth came out orange :) So I had a feel and to me it feels like there is rust there. It's not ontop of the arch, it's deeper than that. I was just wondering if this would effect anything on the MOT? As someone told me that they will check your arches inside and out. I haven't checked the other side because it's behind the petrol tank obviously, but i'm hoping that there will be no rust on the other side... Is it easy to remove the petrol tank to check the arch out?

Relatively easy to pop the tank out - best if it's virtually empty - and remove the battery first to avoid nasty shorts and explosions. As long as there are no holes - MOT won't mind - but should treat with rust killer and then paint over. And spray in waxoyl!

Thank you  Never had to do this before.. so thought I would ask on here seen as there are a lot of projects going on so I guess most people will have taken the petrol tank out :P I will have to get the tank out before the end of March and the mot is then. But... they aren't going to take it out are they? And look behind.. so I might leave it haha. The arches are solid on the outside, so that's a good sign!
I'll have to get the rust repaired then, it doesn't sound like too much of a job! :)
Thank you :)

If it rusts to holes - then it's a huge job. Treat it asap. MOT aren't allowed to move carpets etc - never mind petrol tanks!

Hahah ooo that's good :)
Everywhere else is fine. I will do it asap. I've let my dad know that i've got rust there and he said we will do it asap before it starts to get bigger
There are no holes at the moment. I checked around there a while ago, and it wasn't rusting. So I doubt there will be that much! :)
