Right ive got a 79 and the person who owned vini before me depbumpered him front and back. and while i like the look of a debumpered front end i dont like his bum and as im going to be stripping him down completly and removing rust i thought its a perfect opotunity to replace the rear bumper

so what i need to no is what do i need to buy to fit the bumper???

cheers

unfortunately the rear bumper lip is a combination of three panels, the rear panel, the rear valance and sandwiched in between the boot floor...

I would say the quickest thing to do is not try an put the seam back on but mount the bumper onto some small angle brackets so it gives the impression of being 'all there' but in actual fact is just a cosmetic addition...

Boot Hinge Panel
Theres someone on here
CobraV8?
He put a bumper on without a hinge panel , but im not sure

EDIT: BEATEN TO IT
I THINK YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO DO WHAT GUESSWORK WAS SAYING
YOU WOULD NEED TO BUY THE HINGE PANEL , 9.5" BOOT FLOOR REPAIR AND A REAR VALANCR BUT IT WOULD BE QUITE EXPENSIVE JUST FOR THE BUMPER

Yep my car was deseamed front and back - and like you I wanted bumpers back on. All I did was make some angle brackets out of light steel and bolted them to the bumper, positioned the bumper where it should be, and then riveted the brackets to the body with two rivets per bracket. You could probably do better with rivnuts and bolts.

Also.. I put a piece of rubber heater hose over the brackets to make the bumper sit tight against the body, seemed to stop it vibrating about.

or weld the lip on the rear but it is a water trap. three nicely made brackets from aluminium or stainless could be a nice way
