Update time.

So almost three years aft this project started im here to update the build log. Basically I moved to Bristol 2 years ago, and left the mini in my Dads garage. During that time, it hasnt been started or worked on, and has basically been used to store wood! Shocking! :ohno:

So heres what she looked like when I came to rescue her:

Not in good shape really.

So I put a new battery in and gave it some juice, turned the key and she fired up first time! Amazing. So I pumped up the tires and drove her out of the garage.

First bit of sunlight for nearly 3 years!

The transported is coming tommorrow to pick her up and take her down to Bristol and my garage, which is tiny compared to my Dads, but it has electric and light so it should be fine.

Just to give you an idea of what im working with:

Thanks Minimo, it's all packed up and ready to go. Transporter is turning up at 1:30 today, pretty nervous!

Bet you cant get more bits than me in a focus!

RIght then, its been a bit cold recently so havent been out in the garage much. But I've had this week off so took the plunge!

I decided to drop the engine out of the car:

Which went so well that I decided to do the next step. Have you ever had one of the "well I cant go back now!" moments? I did:
Posted Image

Which left me with one tired (but not in too bad shape) front subframe:

And one 998cc engine (up for sale, make an offer!)

Plus the old front wings:

So the subframe has gone off to shot blasted and powder coated, and I'll be picking up the new flip-front this weekend. All very exciting, and cold!

Comments are always appreciated!

I also cleaned the bulkhead and gave it a lick of red oxide

Then the dreaded shock mounts:

Cleaned up the right side and added a triangle so the pins can go in.

Fixed the right side shock mount and painted:

Right, its been a while, again!

I've bought lots of shiny bits to help build the suspension back up, and had to repaint the parts as hammerite was chipping off already!
