Remote Or Rod Change

which one is best remote or rod change? if remote will i be able to fit it into a 1988 car?

Rod is the best , they changed the gearboxes from Remote to Rod change as they were better
Also no you won't be able to put it in as they have a different gear linkage (I think)

cheers, its just i have a rod and remote box just wondered which one is best and if the remote would actually fit

Yes and no... on all fronts...

A well sorted remote is every bit as good as a rod, and can actually provide a more positive gear change... ( plus no lift for reverse ) however the cases are weaker in design so not so good for high powered applications..

Would it fit into a 1988 mini, with a little bit of modification to the tunnel where the gear lever is located, then yes.

Simplest thing is to use a rod change, it's what the car you have was designed to use.
