    Starting My Mini Up

Hi,

I'm 17 and looking to buy a mini as the first car of my own (im currently sharing a new mini). Ideally id like a 96 onwards cooper, and while this is affordable the only quoted for insurance i have been able to get have been upwards of £3000.

Does anyone have any ideas on places to try or any ideas on the choice of car?

Anything will be appreciated

Why do you want a 96 on model? These are typically the most expensive, and also suffer from rust more heavily than older models. Buy an older model and use the saving to pay for the insurance!

As for a company to use, rind around the specialist insurers first - Adrian flux and the like.

Statements like that are useless without a story to back it up.

No, Footman James are not best for this guy, I remember trying to get an insurance quote from them a few weeks ago, and didn't make it past the main page as they don't insure anyone under 25, not much cop for 17 year olds or us 18 year olds.

check out Performance Direct, give them a google. I advise ringing them up, I think there's a quote provider online but they're really helpful people and gave me my cheapest quote on my '89 998cc cityE. It was £1500 and that's with me having a teensy snaffoo involving the back of a mondeo a while back :D

Hope that helps!

Wait, I just read the last post, it was posted whilst I was typing this, how did you get a quote from them? Their website says they won't insure anyone under 25?

Well got one for you I'm 22, with no claims and cant get coverage. Trying to cover a 70' Morris Mini with a 1380, suspension and brake upgrades. So they say I cant get coverage. Suppose that's one example. Oh Footman Jame's no dice with them either.
