Hi all
1990 Mini City 998, standard carb, engine etc etc, but fitted with electronic ignition ( which is great ) the car is blue by the way, I know that dont make any difference, but someone is bound to ask.
Pretty dumb questions but easier to ask you lot.
1. Stting up the choke and choke cable - The car runs ok and the choke works, but when I pull it out it comes all the way out of the panel and some of the cable shows. I Obviously have set up the choke cable incorrectly, just wondered if anyone could help, as I cant seem to figure out where to set the choke mechanisim on the side of the carb before clamping the cable.
2. It turns out there was a hole in the vaccum pipe from the distributer to the carb, I have replaced this but it has effected the running of the mini, it seems to be running tto lean as when stationary it cuts out. Just wanted some advice on setting up the mixture. The car will keep running if I keep the choke out some and only cuts out at idle.
Any help or advice would be helpful.
regards
David

Just don't pull the cable out so far! Or - shorten it at the carb. To adjust the mixture - just twiddle the mixture screw which (if HIF carb ?) is at about 11 o'clock on the carb as you stand at the front - staring at it!

if you pull the slack through on your choke cable before tightening up the little screw that should make it so you dont pull it right through
pretty sure that anti clockwise is more fuel and vise versa (spelling?) if its a hif carb
