not much more than a 998, unless you find someone who wants one... they make for a good torquey engine but are not the most tunable of beasties, I have a number of 1098's myself, thwy will just sit in the corner until someone comes along who needs one..

Good for a road car - with a 940 head and MG Metro cam - they can make reliable 70 bhp. Just not to be revved above 6000 for any length of time. But for a bare block (no pistons or crank?) - I would say about £30 at best. Obviously if crank and pistons are present - in 'runnable' condition - it's worth a bit more. But - like 998s - they aren't really worth 'reconditioning' - the cost outweighs the advantages of just using a 1275 instead!

I'm actually going to try an experiment this year with a 1098, as above put a 940 head on it but I'm going to see how it goes with an Spi injection system on it...

i thought the blocks were the same as 998 the difference in cc was stroke. and the crank and pistons were 1098 specific.

You're right In-a-Mini -they are indeed the same ! Still just makes it worth about £30 - IF the bores are perfect!
