I just came across some posts offering advice regarding a smoother ride and I know have lots of questions to ask, I got a full smootha ride kit for christmas, but don't know whether its worth fitting after reading peoples experienceof them.

I was recommended them as my ride at the moment is back breaking! I currently have a no name adjustable kit on my original 10 inch wheels, the handling is sharp, but has now become unbearable for my daily drive to work, due to many road humps and pot holes on the way.

Will they make a difference?
Ruin the handling? ( not forgetting its not a racer)

Also, my car sits LOW at the moment, which looks good but isn't practicle, so I don't mind it being raised a little but will the kit raise it considerably more?

(If this has been covered Im sorry........... i could'nt find AN ANSWER)

Just fit standard rubber cones.
If you want to spend the money and upgrade cones, then go for some red dot cones, smootha ride will become soon like standard multon cones..

Only thing i can say..red dots will sit a bit higher, and require hi-los to set the correct height.
Raising the car will make your ride less harsh in the city, but dont rise it like a jeep or handling will suffer..

people stop talking junk, smooth ride or standard cones, with adjsuterides, no issue, both will feel lovely comapred to old knackered suspention, along with new shocks and bushes and it will drive like a differant car and for the better to be honest, complinacy is whats needed in a car, not solid as a rock, because we are talking about the uk roads here

Fitted Moulton SmoothaRides along with Mini Sport adjusta-rides to mine last April, and found them great, ride is a lot smoother, minor road defects are barely noticeable, handling is barely any different.Only downside was the front rideheight was high for a while until the cones settled.I would recommend you fit them for a daily driver like mine,i'm sure you will be pleased you did.

Cool, looks like I'll fit them then! Would I benefit from getting some better shocks than the ones supplied with the kit?

For the Smootharide system to work properly, you should really use the standard type shocks (dampers) they supply in the fit.

Otherwise what would be the point should you fit uprated firmer/adjustable ones? You might just as well fit standard rubber springs/cones then.

I see your point, i wsn't neccessarily thinking firmer when i say uprated, i wondered whether there could be better oil shocks than the ones supplied?
