today my mini started makin a funny metal on metal noise so i stopped and looked and there is nothing i can see. i then got hold of the wheel and wobbled it and it made the horrid noise its like when the steering wheel is turned a little it grinds at the wheel end only on the passenger side wheel hope this make sense

I would guess at a stone trapped between the disc and back coverplate. Remove the roadwheel and give the drive flange a spin to see if you can see where the squeak is coming from. If it is a stone, flick it out with a screwdriver etc.

~ I have heard of people reversing a few yards to release a stone...
