hey guys,

bin working on this mini for quite some time now, and after readin so many project topics i realised i should've taken loads more pics of the stages and work done...but ah well hindsight is a great thing!

managed to get a few along the way and because i know you guys love looking at pics i'll post a link.

My Project Mini

Background:
I bought the car a fair few months ago as a 1st car to "tart up" and get me on the road. it's a 1993 mini rio 1275, came with a nice 2inch exhaust(bit chavvy but ah well) ,some 12x5 superlites, and wasn't in that bad a condition just the usual problems!(unfortunately i haven't got any pics of the car at this stage!! :erm: ) and cost me £550!

I then started to strip it down a bit to investigate...

Now to date work done includes:
NS outer sill replaced
OS inner sill replaced
2 small patches on OS floor well
both rear arches patches up
2 big holes in boot floor patched up
valance and closers replaced
full scuttle replaced and closers
hinge panels patched up
bonnet made to look MK1

:saywhat: :saywhat: :saywhat: .....i was only going to get it on the road but kinda thought....mite aswell spend a bit more and have a spanking mini instead!

I then purchased a steel flip from ebay which came wiv a fibreglass boot and bonnet(which i haven't used so are for sale??)

have spent alot of time and effort fitting this god awful flipfront, and i now wished i didn't buy it!!!!
it was a bit of an impulse buy, and looked very good when 1st picked up, but when fitting the reality dawned.....the 2 wings and been welded "on the pi55" basically! The NS wing was set back on the front panel, and the OS set forward, so....when it came to fitting it was a pig to say the least!!

Then to cap off the problems with the flip, while lining it up for the 1st time....looking down at my 12x5 wheels....the flip had been cut for larger wheels(i told you it was an impulse buy!! )

so OBVIOUSLY i had to buy larger wheels(well it was a very god excuse anyway!!)...i was then straight back on ebay and managed to get sum nice 13x6 white wellers to fill the arches for 60quid(with 2 good tyres)

Next up was the mechanical work(which i quite enjoy which is good):

Obviously the obvious for a flipfront:
Brace Bars
Solid subframe mounts (rear and top)

Replaced Top and Bottom NS ball joints
Replaced Top and Bottom OS ball joints
New bearings NS and OS
Replaced NS CV Gaiter
Replaced engine mount bushes
New shocks all round
Rear brake cylinder NS

Along with this I've got hold of a few goodieas aswell:
New gloss black dash
3 clocks to fit
new gearknob and leather gaiter
stainless sill step-plates
carpet set

and my fav so far....my gorgeous seats and harnesses!
2 cobra clubmans in vinyl with white piping(and subframes), and 2 red securon harnesses!

so thats it really.....if i think of anything else i'll update!

so if you've made it this far thanks for reading...comments if you like...

and one last thing.....what colour?? BRG with white roof or Red with white roof??

Thanks
Frostie
