Please could someone advise me (its probably a very girlie question with a simple answer).
I have a 1986 mini Mayfair.
That has been previously broken into via the left (passenger side) rear opening window.
The window seal has been put back (sort of) by the previous owners, but not fitted back correctly, it now also 3inches short?!?!

So i have a leak problem (and very cold) the seal i want is a couple of inches think and in a type of material.
But i can only buy from the mini spares internet sites, a thin rubber seal.
Is this rubber seal what i have to use instead or can i still get hold of the material type seal somwhere??
Thank you (sorry its such a dim question)
Angie

There's only ever been one style of seal that I know of, are you sure yours hasn't been botched? You can buy all sorts of profile seals by the meter from car builder suppliers like Europa.

It sounds to me like it's either been cut shorter or replaced (with the wrong part) to repair the damage. It is quite common to be sold the wrong part here because there are two sizes of seal that are only a couple of inches different and they have no real identifying marks. It's easy to mix the two up. The shorter seal is used on Mk1 Minis, the longer seal on later cars.

I think she is talking about the side rear window, not the rear screen. The seals are the same length on the side windows for all marks of Mini.

Sorry, my mistake. I always thought the only difference was the rear screen. You learn something new every day!!

A 1986 will be a MK5 and so any rear quarterlight window seal from the 1969 MK3 onwards will do. Mini Spares supply the best as it's made to measure and comes in one piece.
