This is one of the jobs i need to do to get my mini back on the road

It failed it's last MOT because "offside fron front suspension has excessive play in an upper suspension ball joint"

I'm pretty sure mechanic told me this could just be adjusted? but not sure

Or would i have to replace the ball joints? if so would this kit cover it

http://www.minispare...mp;prod_id=2302

And what sort of difficulty is this to deal with?

Cheers

Big tip! get a good splitter. The scissor type are far and away the best. I've just recently done mine and went through two forked splitters before buying a Sykes Pickavant scissor splitter. Took 2 minutes with that baby!

To be honest, for what's involved cost wise, I'd do it and be certain. The splitter I bought second hand from eBay for £14.00. Without doubt the best investment I've made. A couple of my Mini owning mates have used it too and say the same thing....great bit of kit.

i would get a ball joint replacement kit, its not too difficult a job, just make sure you shim it properly and torque it down to the correct setting as per haynes manual. Big Guns advice is sound, get the right tool for the right job

If the ball joint is in good condirion you can just reshim it.
Very cheap option - just a bit of time investment.

I agree ith the ball joint splitter coments, buy the level type as it is easy.
