Bird bought a new Mini 3 months ago

Last week the computer dash said she had a flat, went and put some air in (It was only down about 4 on the PSI) and reset the computer

Today its saying its flat again, and it definatly looks to have gone down abit. Havent been to fill it up yet.

Best way of going to get this sorted? Can I just take it to a tyre place and see if its a slow puncture and get it repaired? Or just buy a new tyre? Or do we need to take it to Mini because its connected up to the computer?

I would take it back to whoever sold you the car!

Ive had bad expreariances as a tire fitter with Bini tires. There runflat perreli or dunlops and often you canaot tell wether they are flat when driveing....

verry bad in idea my opiniyon if run flat for any length of time Despite being a "Runflat tire" they will most likely be nakerd ......

They are called runflats as they can be driven on flat for quite a distance but as with any other tie if run flat they are nakerd. They are only good to stop rim damage. But realy to save manuafactures money on spares and tool kits. On the bad side a replacement will set you back aroun £120 a boot so best get saveing.

Good look with finding problem .... take to a decent tire fiting garage and ask them to cheak for you, If they say u need a tire ask them to show you the problem then get a quote for price from every where you can. I wouldent want to pay more than £100 with fitting/balanceing inclueded.

take a look in your handbook because a repaired runflat can void your warranty and insurance
if it says dont repair dont get it repaired

The abarth is on a week's demo ( we already have a sporting ) and trust me, it's going back right on time !!!

The run flat warning system relies on the ABS sensors and wheel speed differential.

There is a specific routine to reset the computer after it has reported a flat. If not carried out correctly, it still gives the warning. Double check the procedure in the handbook after checking the pressures carefully.

I have them on my 1 series and have had 3 punctures. No one would ever repair them but fortunately mine is a lease car, so it didn't matter to me how much they cost to replace.

Regards driving on them post puncture. The first time the tyre was completely flat and after 8 miles of relatively low speed driving you could smell the rubber it was that hot.

The second was the complete opposite. Warning came on (Saturday) so I stopped and had a look. All seemed well so I reset and carried on. Monday morning, Calls in Liverpool and around. Up & down the M62 no problem. Tuesday morning on the way into the offfice, warning on again. I took it to a tyre depot for checking and both rears had punctures!!! The Saturday incident turned out to be genuine yet I had done 150 miles at motorway speeds and lived to tell the tale.

Just for reference, the fronts lasted 40,000 miles so they aint that bad!
