right then , if your american or live in america, i need you! well, your advice. Me, my mate and his bird all want to go on a driving holiday in the USA. ideally we would like to rent a classic muscle car, if not then a classic american cruisin machine. the plan would be to drive on the back roads in the middle of nowhere and camp anywere we wanted to. also, we are all slightly obsessed with firearms so would love to go to a shooting range and try out many different weapons including grenades and the like. finally, we all would also like to go wild hog/boar hunting or something similar. so basically what im after is help planning it and recommendations for any part of it, any laws or info that would help will also be most appreciated

Hmmmm.....wild boar hunting? I know there are wild boar in South Carolina, I saw a few while I was living there. There are laws regarding hunting....you DO NOT want to get caught by the Game Commission without the proper license, you'd be classified as poachers and they would likely draw their weapons on you! Also, stop in a Walmart and get yourself a nice spot light! If you want to go hunting then I'd suggest renting a truck. I am from NW Pennsylvania and there is lots of good whitetail deer hunting, I think Deer season is going on right now but I can't remember if this would be considered Bow season....that might be later on.

Basically find out what state you are trying to set up a camp in and google the hunting laws prior to shooting any game. You could stop in a pawn shop and pick up a couple of good deer rifles, but I think you'd have to go through a background check depending on what kind of weapon you are trying to hunt with. Walmart sells deer rifles and I think you only need to be 18 to buy them. Grenades are considered "destructive weapons" and you'd need a permit to use those....this isn't likely going to be obtainable for tourists! My cousin has a 50 cal Barret Sniper Rifle and he uses armor piercing rounds....he has a permit for it. Alleghany National Forest is a good place to camp. Check out "Hearts Content"....it is a good camp ground. Also, Kinzua Dam is a nice spot. I'm glad to give more suggestions!

I'm not real sure about renting a "Classic" Muscle Car is possible. I have never heard of it, but Hertz rents out Shelby GTs! The "Hertz Rent-a-Racer" has been a popular choice since the late sixties. Try checking with Hertz in the state you are trying to go to as I'm sure they won't offer the Muscle Cars everywhere. Also, since it is REALLY snowy this time of year from the New England states all the way down to about the very north of North Carolina you'd have a hard time finding a Muscle Car to rent. The south and far West States would be ideal for cruising this time of year....

I believe you when you say you were asking a serious question hence the serious answers! I'm glad to help! I've lived up and down the eastern seaboard for 26 years!

Lol! This is one of those play on words eh? Like "Jumbo Shrimp" or "Civil War" Lol! Generally Machine guns, explosives, tanks (yes, tanks....people do own these and shoot them at ranges) and very high caliber weapons are considered "Destructive Weapons". My brother in law has an AK-47 and WOW that thing gets HOT real fast! It was fun to shoot though. When I was in the service I went through "US Weapons" classes where I used: M16A2, M60 Machine Gun, AT4 Anti-Tank Rocket, Claymores, all kinds of different grenades, M9 and learned how to tear down, clean and reassemble all kinds of other weapons such as the turret mounted 50 cal Machine gun.

Weapons such as 22s, 9mm pistols, 30/30, shotguns, 30-06 etc....standard shotguns, pistols and rifles (some assault rifles, AK-47, Bushmasters, SKS etc...) are not considered "Destructive Weapons". Basically if you have a fully functional howitzer in your garage (and some people do) you need a permit for it.

I lived in Florida for six years. There are "gun" states and non "gun" states. Florida is a "gun" state which makes it easy to get a gun ONLY if you are a US citizen or hold a green card. You are very unlikely to get a permit as a foreign national. Sorry to rain on your parade but I tried to get a permit when I was living there.
