but my mini recently failed its mot with 400 quids worth of repairs to get it through.
unfortunatly my wife thinks its time to get rid of it and get a more (although still small) family car.
im thinking of trying to sell it as is for someone to either get it through an mot or as a project.
what im trying to figure out is whats a fair price to ask the car tiself is in pretty ok shape and if i could blag it up id pay the 400 to get it sorted.
if anyone has any info it would be very much appreciated.
cheers

Best option is to knock up some photo's and also a copy of the fail sheet....
But in my view an MOT failure is not worth a lot..

im at work at the mo.
im based in egham in surrey.
ill grab some pictures when i get home and upload them.
the failures are as below.
1. Offside windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively
2. Offside rear fog lamp not in good working order
3. Rear fog lamp switch faulty
4. Rear fog lamp tell tale not working
5. Nearside headlamp aim too high
6. Offside headlamp aim too high
7. Offside outer sill seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded
8. Nearside outer front cv joint gaiter split
9. Offside front lower suspension arm has excessive play in ball joint
10. Nearside rear parking brake recording little/no effort
11. Parking brake efficiany below requirements
12. Front brake imbalanced.
i think most of the work would be ok for someone to do if they are handy enough (not me) the main thing is the welding.
there are also some bits on the advisories but ill have to have a look when i get home as i cant remember what they are.
there was an advisory of an oil leak. the 2 rear tyres being near the limit and the passenger side outer sill starting to rust. there was a couple more but ill have to look.

unfortunatly being married with 2 kids doesnt leave me much time to mess about.
id rather see it go to someone who can either do it up or use it for spares.
i picked it up as a second run around for me and the wife to use a couple of years ago but the other half refuses to drive it because she is scared of the choke. so i think its the ideal time to get something a bit more practical for family use.
if i get the chance tonight ill try to get some pictures if not ill get out in the light on saturday and highlight the usual dodgy areas.

How about getting mot'd and then try and sell it.If it does not sell Keep it!!
You could always take it down to Matt at Hythe Performance and ask him how much it woukld be to get all those bits sorted. The list doesn't seem too bad.
If you put up some pictures it will help as some of the advisories might be around the bodywork.
Nothing will sell your mini better than a 12 month MOT.
