Hey,newbie stuck again :D

I know this Question has probably allready been asked, im new here and i have tryed searching for it and have had no luck :/

Its about the Sportpack arches and tyer rubbing...

Im curently running 13x6 Genuine rover sportpack wheels on my austin hle, and on the left side it rubs slightly on the wing when i do sharp steering, like a 3 point turn ect... the right side seems fine, but looks like it has been cut to fit bigger wheels. The left wing has been changed previously according to the last owner and doesnt look trimed as much...

Also with the arches that have been put on there at the moment, the right side sits higher than the left, but the clearence is closely the same on both sides between the arch and tyer? why is this :P the car isnt sagging to the side at all, it sits level...

Its hard to explain, i think thats the clearest i can put it haha :D

Im wanting to upgrade to sportpack aches so that my wheels are coverd, at the moment they stick out due to the small arches...

Whats best going for, Genuine or non Genuine ? because there is a big price difference... is it really worth paying extra ?

Also will i have to trim my left wing to fit them, as the right older wing allready looks like its been done? may have ran sportpacks back in the past... it has had 11 owners now. If i did need to trim, whats the best way of doing it? because i dont want to mess my paint and wing up :/

Thanks for reading, i know its alot of questions and that ive gone on a bit,but somone might have had the same problem ? please help im a tad puzzeld by it all ;)

Would love some advice/ help

Cheers, Chris

It maybe due to your car sitting low at the front due to worn cones? Do you have hi-lo's fitted?

They look like they have been trimmed but you may need to trim them further if they are still catching, no real way of doing it without ruining the paint in that area, but the arch covers it anyway, just brush a bit of paint back on afterwards to prevent rust.

Is the rubbing only on full lock?
The factory sportspack mini's had steering rack limiters to prevent the rubbing.
These are available to buy.

Unfortunately the previous owner has fitted the arches rather badly.
This could be down to the right wing being cut to clear the wheels with the car very low, thus the arch had to be mounted high. As you said the left wing has been replaced (unmodified) the arch could be mounted lower.
Obviously if this is the case he must have put the left hand arch on first.
That or the arch was put on high to cover some previous holes.

If you are intending on fitting sportspack arches then this should be fine, they are massive!
There are templates for cutting the bodywork available. It will require some welding to reform the lip or to weld a reinforcing lip on which are available from most mini suppliers i think, i know i've seen them on minispares.
Unfortunately i don't have any experience of the genuine arches to tell you the differences.
I will say my non-genuine ones seemed to sit low at the front with the bumper not in the recess but this could have been down to the way they were fitted in the first place.

Hope this helps, I would make sure that it's definitely what you want as it's a pain to reverse i bought mine with sportspacks and 13's, am now replacing bodywork so i can fit group 2's with my 10's :D.
Not trying to put you off or anything at all should look really nice with it done.
You going to have them body colour?

Best of luck :D
