Do not do this, every keg costs the brewery about £80 to buy! Just because they're left out, it's still theft!
I'm looking into brewing, and would be quite peeved if you stole one of my kegs!

Best bet, approach the local brewery, and ask if they have any 'leakers' they want rid off, these are damaged kegs that they can't use any more, you may get one for free or very cheap.

Other then that, oil drums as above, give you a bit more space!

Even an empty keg can have a dangerous amount of pressure inside it - be careful.

I'm not sure an aluminium keg would be best suited to the temperatures a bbq could reach would it?

You would be better of with a 225kg barrel we use them for BQ 2 Tree V stumps hammered in the ground for the height as a stand.Just cut the side out.I would not use an alloy keg.

They're defo ally - must just be a coincidence that your southern beer tastes like rusty water :(

How about an old steel wheel? Similar size to a keg 'n could even come with a built in stand (half shaft).

If if you really do want a Keg why don't you ring that place in Alton and see if they have any old ones.

A plain wheel off a van is pretty much hole free, especially when bolted to an inverted hub. Charcoal will easily get hot enough to melt ally, just a matter of if it can dump the heat as fast, aren't the disposable bbq's aluminium?

We've got a barrel bbq at work (I work in an office.. but we have our own bbq!!) and its the best darn bbq EVER. It gets so hot and is massive. Had quite a few work bbqs  I'm currently vegetarian (for the fun of it.. ) but in March when i've stopped we're going to have an uber bbq :) MMMmm..

Timmy
