Is it a factory fitted stereo?
Could be a dodgy earth on the rear lights

well if all the indicators are on, and brakes you should be pulling 112watts for the lamps, which is < 10 amp therefore I'd be looking at the stereo... or a direct to earth connection... ( earth leak )

if i put in a 15 amp fuse would that not put too much current onto everything??

No but it might allow too much current to be drawn and start a fire. Uprating (or downrating for that matter) fuses in a circuit that you don't have complete technical details for is very dangerous.

You need to find out what is actually causing the fault. Does it happen every time you use the indicators? Regardless of what else is on or off?

well the radio was fine til i used the indicator, i think the unit is at fault because the earth came detached a few weeks ago and i noticed that some1 had done a bit of a bodge with the wiring up to the unit. theres been a big puddle for the last week i have to pass to get to college so i'l take a look at that in the mornin

Leave the radio unplugged for a day then and see if everything else works properly.

I've had a quick look at a wiring diagram and as standard fuse 10 is supposed to only run the radio memory. Fuse 9 is supposed to be the radio supply. The problem is that many modern radios use what would normally be thought of as the memory supply, that is to say their permanant supply, as their main source of power and just use the ignition supply as a trigger to turn on and off. Can the radio be turned on without turning the ignition on?
