Couldn't help but laugh at your user name sorry

Not quite sure what could be doing that though, is the seal OK?

not sure if u can see properly from the pictures, but the left hand side does not side flush to the body.
the seal i'm using id the one with a lip.
not the type that just goes on to the metal.

my mini is a 1982 mini mayfair.

i just can;t seem to line it up properly.

I must admit, my boot lets water in too, which really irritates me.

In fact, yours sits better than mine..

Was the boot seal a genuine one? Because I bought a (late-type) non-gen seal from Southern Mini Days last year which is hopeless. May try a genuine one.

well its not the seal because u can see in the boot. from the right hand side.
no matter really how good the seal is if the boot doesn't line up to it then it won;t seal.

but the seal was from mini sport wasn;t a cheap one really.

is it possible to turn the seal around? ie instead of the seal lip looking down it looks up.

That looks fine to me, bootlids dont fit perfect, remember this is a mini, not a rolls royce. They do sit away from the body at the top, espeicialy with a new seal on, just get it best you can and wait for the seal to wear in.

Edit: Looking at it again you boot lid may be twisted slightly
