HI!

I'm refurbishing my gearbox but to get the differntial of I have to get the gear linkage arm off first, but dont now how xD

There's a pin which holds the linkage in place with the gearbox gear switcher(don't know what it's called) I've tried to hammer it out and screw it out but it does'nt work

Ideally you'll need a roll pin punch or something very similar that will drift the roll pin out of the selector rod joints. Putting the car in reverse helps get the best access so you can effectively swing a hammer.

Also pack the selector rod with a piece of wood, so the rod doesn't bounce around whilst you're striking it with a hammer. It also helps concentrate the force to shift the roll pin too.

Oh and make sure the Mini is securely supported on axle stands or ramps whilst you're working under there.

Yes - but with the correct size punch. Nail/screwdriver etc will just mess it up!

Had mine a while now and ive lost count of the number of times it has come in useful!

Tap it back in with a hammer. Just make sure the holes are lined up properly.

If you're going to refurb the box, then you will need a set of parallel punches, 1/8" upwards.
