Basically looking some info on a rough spec I will need to build an engine/box capable of 160bhp?

It's for a fast road car that does alot of weekend and track time??

Preffered supercharging as I like the idea/noise lol

you would be better with a turbo so you can inter-cool for that sort of power.

youll need a wallet with lots of places to hold your cards and it much be good quality leather or itll wear out once you have to start opening it all the time :/

you not go for a k1100 head with a T2-3 on?

depends on a lot of things really. how high will it rev and whether it'll be turbo or supercharged.

as an example mines a totally std bottom end bar the cam and pistons and its running a shade under 200hp. gearbox wise it's just a 4 syncro S/C box with SC drops and an ATB LSD. you'll probably want a pre-verto clutch setup with an AP rally plate and a grey diaphragm to cope with the torque that comes with 160hp from a forced induction motor.

this is making turbo sounding more appealing, its the cutting of bulkhead and reliability was putting me off it?

I'm aiming for my car to weigh abotu 650kg so as much HP as possible would be good.

Realistically how far will £3500 get me?

3500 in my opinion will get you to 110bhp any more bhp will get expencive if you want it to last.

yup, started out with std T3 and 10psi at 120hp, then a bit more headwork and a T25 and 15psi @ 165hp, now better turbo 20psi and 197.7hp, lol.

all still on the same bottom end, think i might have fitted new shells at some point when my clutch pedal was sticking and burnt out my thrusts, but the pistons/bores are still the same and just starting to get a bit loose now.

£3500 might get you some of the way there, all depends how much you can do yourself.

you're going to be looking at spending £800 on box and drops, or more if you want an lsd.
bottom end would be somewhere in the region of £600ish, say £350ish for a head.

Then it's all the little bits and bobs that add up, flywheels, clutches, radiators, piping, carbs, turbo, manifolds etc etc etc...

whatever you think your budget is you need to add on at least 1k for all the bits you didn;t think of.

I would say 3.5k is not miles off the mark if you can build it yourself with only machining work etc being farmed out.

Cheers Ross.
