Hi

I have a 1983 mini but i think the arches have been added cause the wheels arent spaced underthem, but there are spacers on the wheels. I was just wondering how i space the wheels even more to fit under the arches and if i do this will it put more strain on anything?

I would be grateful is anyone could help

Cheers

The bodge it way would be some spacers. You can buy them from places like Minisport- www.minisport.co.uk

Although this isn't encouraged as it is... well... dodgy.

The proper way would be to buy wider wheels to fill your arches.

Be warned though, the more you go outwards, the more strain your putting on your cars components. Like wheel bearings.

As you seem to have gone for the retro look with the over-riders and bars, I'd just take them off... and chrome trim the seam... little bit cheaper than new wheels aswell :cheese:

I agree would look alot better compared to wider wheels.

why on earth would you consider wheel spacers to be a 'bodge'?......they are perfectly safe if done properly, and if they are that bad, why did rover fit them as standard to all disc braked cars?

Maybe so, but am sure some MOT Testing stations will fail a car with wheel spacers on.. dont quote me on that tho, its going back 10 years since I had this happen

Wheel spacers are safe.. just as long as u can still get the wheel nuts on and tight
