Having you got a helmet?
How big are the holes your welding?
Also if it is inside the car completely strip seats , carpets , anything that can catch fire

If you clamp the brass behind the hole you can gradually build up the weld on the edges of the hole. Eventually filling the hole with weld without needing a piece of plate. Effectively welding in fresh air! Being brass the weld won't stick to it.

The brass/copper is normally used for doing small holes as opposed to patching, works nicley as well.

Cheers Ross.

It's also worth pulling the plug from the alternator as a precaution. Oxygen causes brittle welds - not sure how that would happen with gasless - have you got the torch polarity right?

i have indeed reversed the polarity but for now i am still practicing as it looks not good at the moment but they are strong the weld that is. but i will learn and they will look good
