As bud666 says - they are not the same.. the MG cam can be used as an upgrade on a turbo motor

It may not even be as good as your 998 cam - some 1275s have very soft cams! The MG metro cam is the one you want - that one will make a nice ornament........

850 cam is 230in/230ex deg duration

998's are 230/240 deg duration

cooper S was 240/252 duration

997 cooper was 252/252 dur

MG metro was 252/268 dur

everything else (inc turbo) was 230/252.

Think you will find that each cam was designed especially for a specific engine and not just straight out of the parts bin for whatever engine. e.g. 'S' cam prob useless in a 998 and not a go faster item.
The turbo engine was just a blown 1275 with a few strengthening mods, no need for hot cams when the air is forced in anyway, I believe my mate bought an avonbar cam for his which was designed for turbo engines, didn't make a lot of difference it still blew the head gasket every week. lol

Low power 1275 engines had 230/230 cams - with only 0.235" lift at the cam! Which is why a 998 cam 230/240 and 0.250" lift can make a (slight) improvement!

I think you'll find than BL loved to raid the parts bin wherever possible....

the avonbar cam should have made a fair difference to your mates motor, it's not the prefered turbo cam of the no1 A series turbo forum for no reason....

also the head gasket should not have been blowing every week, most people run a std BK450 with no issues, that includes engines poking out over 200hp.
