HIF38 is the carb type its a 38mm SU carb
AEM is the needle spec, needles come in different taper profiles to given different fueling for different spec engines. each profile as a different letter code.
The spring is in the top dome bit of the carb, the red is the strength of the spring.
Main upgrade for a 1275 would be the HIF44, its a bigger carb.

But - that engine probably has the very soft camshaft - and so power may not be limited by the smaller HIF38 carb. In other words - fitting a larger 44 carb on it's own may not noticeably change the performance.

Why do you want to? Carbs don't make power, it's the engine that does that. All the carb does is mix fuel and air and if it's already doing that as efficiently as the engine is capable of using it and providing as much as the engine needs then changing the carb will do nothing. If you want your engine to produce more power or more torque or be more responsive then you really need to be working on the engine. If it needs a change of carb as a result of what you do to it, that's when you would think about changing it.
