Hey everyone,

I've had my mini for about 3 months now, was meant to be a quick fixer-upper, but (as I knew it would) it's turned into much MUCH more than that.

The story so far....

It's (still not sure if it's a boy or girl...) a 1973 morris clubman. Originally had 998cc, but I decided I wanted something with a little bit more grunt. I hunted around for a 1275, found a guy who was selling a morris 1300 engine so I went and looked at it, he assured me it was a 1275 so I snapped it up. After checking the engine codes (thankfully found on this forum), I discovered it was a 1098 - NOT HAPPY. stuck with the engine, and no refund of any kind (up for grabs if you live in Christchurch NZ).

So I fluffed around for a while trying to find another one, and eventually found a 1275 from a '68 wolesley. Pulled the 998cc out, switched the gearboxes over (with a LOT of help from Shane - level7 for those of you who might know him on here) and it's now in the car (photos up later).

She blows a heap of smoke and needs a real good tune, but i'm not planning on having the engine in there for that long. I hope to pull it out, get it stripped and reconditioned sometime next month.

That's pretty much as far as i've got.

The mini itself is in decent condition, little rust in the sills which i'll get cut out soon, and some bog in the door which I'm not a fan of, although I might just end up smoothing it over rather than a new panel.

Love to hear some ideas for work that I could do to the mini while I wait for the engine to be done - i.e. resprayed, interior, flared arches etc...

Thanks!!

Josh
