Hi everyone, i'm not too sure if i am posting this in the right place but here goes. I have just purchased a 998cc engine and have stripped it down a bit to check the condition of the bores etc. I hae found out it has a 12G295 cylinder head with approx 30mm inlet valve and approx 27mm exhaust valve (are these the correct size for a 12G295), new stem seals and bronze guides. It also has the double valve springs and has the red coloured roller rockers.
I am wondering if it is a standard bore 998cc, the markings on the pistons are as follows:
FRONT 68
20528 K09
2 pistons are the same as this and one other one has k15 at the end and the other has k19 at the end. All the pistons have an A mark on them.

Also the engine number on the block is: 99HA53 122906
there are various other markings around the engine, above the sump/gearbox it says:
A/BZ2 DAM
BC&M 5626

around the back it has WFM
1026

The distributor is a 65DM4 electronic type if thats any help.

Any help identifying what year engine etc it is then it would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Evan.

Although you didn't provide the 'engine code suffix'.

there are various other markings around the engine, above the sump/gearbox it says:
A/BZ2 DAM
BC&M 5626

Those are the transmission casing numbers and I believe DAM means it's an A+ gearbox. But the engine number has already confirmed that anyway (i.e. '3.105:1 Final Drive').

Thanks for the information, i wasn't aware of an engine code suffix as i gave the whole engine number as stamped onto the plate. Also i would have asumed it was an A series rather than an A+ becuase it has the 2 prong distributor clamp that just secures to the body by one bolt rather than the later clamp that clamps the whole of the distributor?

Does anyone know if the pistons are standard size as it looks to have been honned. Thanks again, Evan.
