Update ... Huey has been painted and although the result is awesome there are NO PICTURES YET since he still looks a bit sad. He has one eye (headlamp) hanging out awaiting a halogen bulb kit, broken front numberplate, odd wheels and no seats and is sitting in a corner of the garage under a sheet. He should be back on the road at the end of this month >_<

I remembered to get a list of the main replacement panels. On the offside -- front wing, outer & inner A panels & pillar repair panel, complete door (but not glass), external hinges kit, side panel and seam finisher. On the nearside -- front wing (to accommodate the 10” wheel) plus remedial work on the passenger door. It was not affected by the accident but while trying to make the door fit better Paul discovered on the lower rear that a piece of metal had been only tack welded in and then covered with a lot of filler, so he took it all out and welded in new metal. There are photos of this but I haven't seen them. On the front – complete van grille.

The wheels as previously stated will be 4.5 Minilife 10” with 145 tyres, since we are going for optimum road performance, not the chunky 165 look. Huey has done chunky already and now it's back to basics. He is getting a couple of towing eyes because I'm fed up with having the tie bars bent. The sill and arch seams will be silver and the shield bonnet badge will have a silver surround, not the plain black one.

More in three weeks-ish :genius:

Fantastic stuff! How exciting to hear news of Huey's rebirth. Hope he's going to be at Coombe this year so that me and Arthur can admire him

Defnit. I must organise one of their alleged free autojumble pitches to sell stuff that's been in the back of the garage for years.

EDIT OK, booked a pitch. It says it's free but you have to buy two entry tickets. I got one OAP concession but had to pay full price for the other, which is ok because a mate from our mini club is bringing some autojumble too.

Cheers. Just tried to restart him and the battery has expired and won't hold a charge any more. Why didn't I rescue it months ago? :)

Thanks! Poole is great & hope to drag some East Devon club people along too. I'd like to get a picture of New Huey in the same place on the quay as Old Huey last year. Likewise the M2M, and the Teapots have entered both cars >_<

Huey passed his MoT today :)

with one advisory, namely a small exhaust leak.
He is now having his suspension set up properly on his new tens.
The next step is a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) which should be at the end of next week, and then it's new road tax and welcome home! :)
I won't be seeing him till then, so I still have no pix ;)
