Yes, my son Tim has been explaining to me how the Americans invented this rule so their inferior-build SUVs could dodge awkward roadworthiness tests.Pleased that's sorted, more DVLA lunacy - surely there's far more scope for dodgy cloning & botching of Trucks 'n bike with bolt on chassis and frames.
Co-incidentally, Tim says hi, Alan, and next time you undertake a grey Kawasaki Ninja on your way home could you give him a wave? Assuming you're in your mini.Yay! not long left til Huey is BACK!!! can't explain how excited I am!!

since Paul the Spanner has been fettling the engine bay with some de-greaser followed by high-temp clear paint

Still can't show you the finished article but you get the idea I hope

Yes, Falken 145s. Perfectly adequate. With the other suspension mods completed (adjustable camber brackets still to fit on the back -- I'd bought them before the write-off) Huey will handle very well for this old duffer, thank you.

Huey looks absolutely lovely Mr Teapot
So pleased to see Huey's previous bodges sorted out and to witness his rebirth. Bet you can't wait to get him back, then you, Huey, Mrs Teapot and Rocky will all be able to go out together for celebratory cups of tea ....

The indicator glass is back to orange, the repeaters on the wings have gone and we now have a couple of tow hooks just in case ...
no more bent tie bars (I hope)
One thing I do regret is not changing the bonnet pins & spring fasteners. They are really naff. Ideally I'd like to keep a lift-off bonnet with invisible clamps at the back and the usual centre fastener at the front with an interior bonnet release which Minimadjonesy just happens to have given me! In the meantime I might experiment with fake leather straps over the spring clamps. The springs are covered with cable shrink-wrap to protect the paint.
The roof and damaged offside A-pillar have come out a treat. The new door is very clangy compared with the passenger side's with its second skin sludge. I think I've got just enough left for two coats on the new one.

So here he is for the moment, but definitely getting there. Of course the seats are wrong but I'm quite attached to them
or at least I was while Huey was trying to throw me out
