How To Stop Balljoint From Spining

I have got this 1 ball joint nut to tighten up and i cant as it just keeps spinning i have tried jacking the car up on the lower arm any ideas please help!!

Mole grips but it will knaker your rubber boot.

copper slick your thread up nicely

Oh and if your using new lock nuts, They dont need to be overly tight.

Jack it up even higher! Then thump the arm with a hammer - to seat the taper. But do check the thread on pin and taper are not damaged.

what size are the bolts for the ball joints? as i got a feeling it could be that a bit knackard?

Thats the joy of balljoints LOL
try a jack under the bottom arm, turn the hub then jack it a bit higher, then you should be able to tighten the upper balljoint nut..

Will the nut go on by hand when not fitted to the car?
Sounds lile the thread is damaged and needs cleaning up or you have the wrong nut.

i havent really tried that but the nut will go so far on the ball joint then just stop and the ball joing starts spining? any 1 have the size of the ball joint nut??

If the thread is undamaged then it defo sounds like the wrong nut.

Is it the same one that you removed from it?

dont know if you have sorted it mate but the nut size is 11/16 plain nut not a nylock
